  • 6 cups Broccoli Florets ( or broccolini)
  • chili flakes- optional
  • pinch or two of kosher salt
  • zest of 1/2 a lemon
  • 1 tsp olive oil
  • cracked pepper to taste
  • toasted pine nuts- optional
  • 1 tsp truffle oil


  1. Tear or cut broccoli florets into roughly the same size pieces, to ensure even doneness
  2. Steam in a steamer basket until fork tender, about 5 minutes covered
  3. Remember to only fill the water up to the basket ( you don't want the water touching the broccoli)
  4. Bring to a boil, cover and steam on high heat for 5 minutes
  5. Test for doneness
  6. Place in a large bowl, sprinkle with a generous pinch of kosher salt, cracked pepper, lemon zest
  7. Finish with a little drizzle of truffle oil
  8. If you are using a good quality truffle oil you may not need very much and supplement with a little drizzle of olive oil
  9. Gently toss and taste for salt
  10. Serve immediately.
